When most people think of software conflicts, they immediately think of System Extensions (INITs) and Control Panel device problems. While not all conflicts are related to this breed of software, many of them are.
There are really two reasons for this. First, because a Control Panel device or System Extension is often a “small” project compared to creating an entire application, they have appeal for the “weekend hacker” or hobbyist programmer. This has resulted in a proliferation of “shareware” control panels devices and extensions. While some of these are of high quality, many are not.
